Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data Songboxd collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Songboxd is a passion project currently in beta — we keep things simple and collect only what we need to run the service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your email address, username, and a hashed password. You may optionally provide a display name, biography, and profile avatar.
Content You Create
Album logs, ratings, reviews, lists, replies, and any other content you submit through the platform is stored in our database so we can display it to you and other users.
Usage Data
We use Sentry for error monitoring. Sentry may collect browser type, OS, and page URL when an error occurs in order to help us diagnose and fix bugs. We do not run advertising trackers or sell usage data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- •To operate and maintain your account and the service.
- •To display your public profile, logs, reviews, and lists to other users.
- •To send you transactional emails (e.g., password reset). We do not send marketing emails.
- •To monitor and improve platform stability using error reports.
- •To enforce our Terms of Service and protect against abuse.
3. Data Storage & Security
Songboxd is built on Supabase (PostgreSQL). Your data is stored in the EU region and protected by row-level security policies that prevent unauthorized access.
Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard algorithms before being saved. All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
While we take security seriously, no system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security issue, please contact us immediately at contact@songboxd.com.
4. Sharing of Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:
- •Service providers: Supabase (database & auth) and Sentry (error monitoring) process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- •Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Your Rights
You can:
- •Edit or delete your reviews, logs, and lists at any time from within the app.
- •Update your profile information from the Settings page.
- •Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.

6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Songboxd after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
